SUNBURST EMBRACE

Souls can’t linger on spun greetings.
It’s the waiting I can’t stand,
When my fervid desire
Drives me to pierce the heart of that square.

Please forgive the rattle and flash
Of my nerves
But counting these numbers
Like warm lace
Has set me alight inside.
And your name still echoes, thunderous
Within these slowly crumbling walls.

I taste words, black and sweet
A honey funneling deeply into me.
I can’t help but smile when I see
Such rapture from a mouth not my own.

The pleasure of dreams
Gives way to their origins
Swimming in these webs of midnight
And the ebb of consciousness.
Being shut in this soft, lined box with you
I could never deny it...
This entrapment is paradise.

Solar flares rarely come to me with such ease...
And if I’m sleeping,
Please, darling, wake me up
So we can do it all over again.
