This organization was founded in 2000 as an outreach program for juvenile criminal offenders, offering them a second chance at a civil life. It has since been an active community figurehead, with several programs established to re-acclimatize young men and women to life beyond institutional walls. These programs include educational and occupational programs, various methods of basic career training, psychological counseling, and temporary housing.

As the society functions as a community benefactor, it is heavily funded by state and city legislative bodies, as well as private contributors, including the well known pharmaceutical and military corporation, BioGenic. The Janus Society was founded and is currently run by Marshall King, a wealthy market analyst and entrepreneur, a native of Uro City, and more importantly, a former inmate of its juvenile prison systems.
